Some things you didn’t know about hemp…
Hemp has been used since ancient times, especially as a traditional plant for textiles and furniture, which was made from hemp’s fibres. Even today, it is used for the manufacture of commercial products, such as paper, clothing, biodegradable plastics, and of course in food industry.
Non-dietary hemp products
Cosmetic products are among the non-dietary hemp products, in addition to the already mentioned ones. Above all, these are products based on hemp oil, which is very moisturizing and nourishing. It is especially recommended for sensitive skin, and it also has a beneficial effect on various allergies, itching, peeling skin and even psoriasis.
Dietary hemp products
When we talk about hemp products in terms of nutrition, in this set we find mainly hemp seeds, oil, flour and proteins. What all these products have in common is that they are derived from hemp seeds.
Hamp is a rich source of fibre, unsaturated fatty acids and proteins, and as such can be used in the daily diet.
From a nutritional point of view, the use of hemp products is recommended for everyone, especially for people with diabetes or high cholesterol levels, due to its favourable ratio between omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, which can alter the course of these modern diseases.
Hemp seeds have many uses. They contain 3 times more protein than soy, and are also a rich source of fibres and omega 3 fatty acids, as well as many vitamins and minerals. We can eat them solo when we are hungry and we want to get something healthy into our body, or we can sprinkle them over various dishes to enrich the nutritional value of the meals.
One of the highest quality plant proteins, as they have a very favourable amino acid composition. Hemp proteins are also rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are the key to building muscle. These proteins have a particularly high level of L-arginine, which, in addition to building muscle tissue, also plays a role in wound healing and strengthening the immune system.
It is recommended to consume 15 g of hemp protein per day (3 tsp.). Stir them into your favourite beverage. You can also partially replace flour when baking bread, cakes or desserts with hemp proteins and thus enrich the nutritional value.
